How Chocolate Is Made By Large CompaniesDid you ever imagine how to large companies make chocolate. Since, there are not many places in the United States to harvest cocoa beans, most large companies depend on the Ivory Coast, Ghana and South America to make chocolate. Cocoa trees tend to produce a fruit similar to melon. The fruit is hand harvested. There are about 20-40 seeds in a fruit. These seeds are known as cocoa beans and play a major role in the end result. Cocoa beans are very important to make chocolate. The cocoa beans are placed inside huge heaps or piles for fermentation after being removed from the fruit. The process takes more than about a week. This provides through time to harden the shells, darken the beans and the development of the cocoa flavor. Thereafter, these are transported to the chocolate factors to make chocolate. This is the step where other ingredients are added. These ingredients include cocoa butter, milk, chocolate liquor and sugar. Chocolate liquor is a unique combination of sugar and milk. The end product is a coarse brown powder known as chocolate crumb. Milk is taken from the farm after being tested and pasteurized. The milk is mixed with sugar till it turns into a thick and taffy material. There is a lot of efforts companies require to make chocolate. Cocoa butter is thrown in to obtain the superb taste and creamy texture of chocolate. Steel rollers are used to make chocolate in order to grind and refine the mixture. The final result is smoother mixture. Following all the steps mentioned above to make chocolate, the mixture turns in a thick liquid. The liquid is often termed as chocolate paste.
